Kose Sekkisei Clear Whitening Mask is an absolute life-saving product in Summer! I have blackheads and large pores problems and the Summer heat won’t do any good on them! To minimise the blemishes, I have to go to a beauty salon at least once in every two weeks which is not, I have to say, cost effective, so I was looking for a clay or peeling mask to remove my blackheads and Kose Sekkisei Clear Whitening Mask just comes to my mind because of its’ popularity in Asia.
So what is it and how to use it?
This is a black peeling mask which promises to remove blackheads, dead skin cells and refine pores. According to the Kose official website, this peeling mask contains several herbal extracts, such as Coix Seed Extract, Angelica Extract, Melothria Extract, Chinese Quince Extract and Red Oolong Tea Extract which help to brighten skin, tighten pores and regulate sebum production for improving skin texture and tackling visible pores.
This mask also contains nano-sized black powder compounds which can be spread across on the face easily. Take approximately 2cm of product onto your finger at a time, spreading it across your face while avoiding eyes areas, eyebrows, hairline and lips. Once dry, peel it off inwards from the outer areas of your face.
Tips for using it: I will wash my face with lukewarm water then cover my face with a warm towel. It helps to open up my pores and soften my skin. Then, I use the mask till my skin is completely dry and one more thing, shake the tube before using it as I heard some people complaining the watery texture of the product.
To be honest, I don’t think the mask is watery (see the above picture) but it’s a bit gluey to spread out so you may want to apply two or three times to make sure the mask fully covers your face, especially the sides of your nose. Once it is dry (20-30mins), the mask can be peeled off easily and you can literally see the sebum or blackheads on it.
What I feel? This mask really helps to extract blackheads but I don’t see the size of my pores is dramatically shrank. It is hard to draw a conclusion here as I only use it once but not regularly.
This product is called whitening mask but I find that it “brightens” my face instead - my skin tone is brighter but the shade is still the same. My skin feels smooth, clean and fresh though. Since my dead skin is removed by this peeling mask so I think, why not using a moisturising mask to replenish my skin hydration? I use Lululun Face Mask Moist afterwards and my guess is right! My skin absorbs the essence of the mask better and it looks dewy and well hydrated. What a surprise!
Cautions: I don’t feel pain when I peel off the mask but it leaves some redness on the skin which don’t really bother me. Having said that, I don’t think this mask is suitable for sensitive and fragile skin.
Avoid using it on eyes, eyebrows, hairline and lips. Be patient and wait for 20-30mins till the mask is completely dry. You will thank for your own patience as it will be peeled off easily and smoothly.
